Abstract

The article attempts to consider the October pogroms of 1905 taking into account the theoretical tools developed in social psychology when studying the actions of large masses of people. The role of rumors and circular reactions in the formation of pogromic crowds is shown, their typological features are revealed, on specific historical examples the behavioural stereotypes of pogromic participants are traced.
