The article discusses the issues of defining land resources as a special object of management and use, describes the problems and consequences of one-sided perception of them as a purely economic object of consumption and use. The system of interaction of subjects of land and property relations in the region is investigated, the structure and organization of land management in the Tver region are analyzed. The purpose of the study was to determine the main directions for improving the rational use of land resources as a factor of sustainable development of the region. The directions of sustainable development of the region are defined and specified by improving the methods and mechanisms of the management system and the use of land resources, this requires a revision and transformation of the land management system itself; improving the methods of assessing land resources as the basis for improving the efficiency and rationality of land use, this requires the perception of land resources as a complex complex socio-ecological and economic object management.
