Abstract

The article deals with I. Berlin's early philosophical views who was one of the most famous representatives of intellectual history and political theory. It is pointed out that the task of philosophy is to study and reassess the validity of moral ideals, to study the categories through which a person looks at reality, and intellectual history is aimed at achieving self-understanding, what Berlin calls the highest human need, allowing to identify and characterize models of human nature and society.
