Abstract

The article presents the results of the analysis related to the establishment of the essence of modern technologies by the founders of the philosophy of technology (on the example of the ideas of M. Heidegger, G. Marcuse, M. McLuhan). It is pointed out that this field of research was formed in the New and Modern times, but its problematics goes back to the philosophy of Antiquity. The main subject of the study is the comprehension by the leading philosophers of modernity of the change in the essence of technology, which it underwent in the New Age. It is noted that the way of world understanding has changed, because in the New European science-centered philosophy reality was separated from the goals immanent to it. The result of the analysis was the conclusion that modern technologies are based on a certain way of understanding things, representing reality as a system of operational means. The principles that constitute the philosophical basis of modern technologies that form the digital society were singled out and formulated.
