The article analyses various approaches to defining the concept of "corruption", in academic discourse. As a socio-legal phenomenon that threatens national security and the prosperous development of the state, corruption does not have a single definition in numerous sources. Existing approaches, while similar in their interpretation of the concept, nevertheless draw attention to different aspects of corruption offences. The article emphasises the need for further study of the category of corruption in order to improve mechanisms for countering this phenomenon and protecting the interests of the state and society.
