Abstract

The article examines the problem of how growth in energy performance affects the consumption of fuel resources through the lens of the Jevons paradox and distortion theory. It substantiates the idea that technological progress can not only stimulate economic development but also lead to an increase in the overall volume of resource consumption due to the rebound effect. Particular attention is paid to socio-economic and managerial aspects: the influence of the Jevons paradox on the formation of state policy in the field of energy saving, changes in societal behavior patterns, and the ensuring of sustainable development is analyzed. The novelty of the research lies in the application of the distortion approach for a comprehensive analysis of rebound effects and forecasting their consequences in socio-economic systems. The obtained results enable the development of more balanced resource management strategies that take into account both economic and humanitarian factors.
