Abstract

It is emphasized that the role of engineering innovations in the life of modern society cannot be overestimated; the technical solutions developed by engineers are a necessary condition for the functioning of industries of various levels in different spheres of the market economy. It is indicated that the introduction of engineering achievements in professional industries (education, social services, medicine, etc.), which are not directly related to technology and technical processes, through computerization determines the demand for the profession of an engineer. Topical issues related to the training of engineering personnel in specialized institutions are listed, whose task is the formation of professional competencies that meet the real needs of employers, including psychological components of professional reliability. It is concluded that the complex of indicators of professional reliability of an engineer contained in numerous works of researchers is quite wide (it includes physiological indicators, individual psychological, psychological), the continuous complication of the conditions of professional engineering activity currently gives grounds for a deeper study of its content.
