The article examines the formation in 1869–1874 ideas of F. Nietzsche about the hygiene of life. It is argued that reflections on psychological hygiene are contained in the thinker's first philosophical work «The Birth of tragedy from the spirit of music». It is concluded that F. Nietzsche's ideas about the hygiene of life, outlined by the philosopher in the essay «On the benefits and harms of history for life», arose as a result of the development of ideas presented in the text of the treatise «The Birth of tragedy from the spirit of music»; these ideas allow us to consider him an original thinker of both his time and modernity.
