The main directions of digitalization of Internet communications of government structures and society are described. Statistical new data on users of the unified portal of state and municipal services are analyzed. The results of an applied sociological study conducted with the assistance of the Public Chamber of the Tver region in 2022 and designed to identify the level of awareness of various categories of citizens of the Russian Federation about the role of the Internet in the development of civil society and dialogue between the population and the authorities are presented. The results of this study are presented, in particular, Internet communication channels known to residents that contribute to increasing publicity and building a civil society are identified.
