Abstract

It is noted that Russian enterprises are reluctant to implement an environmental management system (EMS). It is shown that the energy industry is the largest polluter of the environment. The issues of assessing the prospects and effectiveness of the use of EMS are considered. It is proved that the introduction of EMS in this industry significantly affects environmental performance in both the short and long term. The example of an energy enterprise shows the positive changes that have arisen as a result of the use of EMS by this enterprise.
