The main stages of digitalization are considered. The information technologies being introduced into the educational sphere and the challenges that had to be faced are described. The main advantages and disadvantages of the informatization process are listed. It is concluded that informatization of education can become a powerful learning tool, but only with proper integration into the educational process and taking into account possible risks and limitations.
