About the article
O.N. Torgovanova, A.E. Shabanova
The article notes that social interdependence exists when individuals' outcomes are influenced by their own and others' actions. Two types of social interdependence are specified: positive (when the actions of individuals contribute to the achievement of joint goals) and negative (when the actions of individuals hinder the achievement of each other's goals). The concepts of such founders of Gestalt psychology as K. Koffka, K. Lewin, and M. Deutsch are considered. The variables that determine the effectiveness of cooperation and competition are listed. It is emphasized that positive and negative interdependence can be structured through additional roles, group contingencies, and compartmentalization of information.
