Abstract

The article deals with ethical contradictions that arise in the process of application of biomedical technologies to improve human cognitive abilities. It is pointed out that these contradictions problematize the relationship between the natural beginning of man and the artificial one. Special attention is paid to the fact that the improvement of human cognitive abilities and cognitive functions provides an opportunity to acquire socially effective knowledge and skills in the shortest possible way, excluding social adaptation and neglecting possible crises of identity and self-overcoming. It is noted that the inclusion of cognitive improvement technologies in the sphere of consumption existing in modern society will lead to a change in the essence of man - a decrease in spiritual aspirations, freedom, weakening of the will, loss of dignity and transformation of man into another enterprise of technological upgrade.
