SUFFERING AND PAIN AS THE SOURCES OF EMPATHY
AND EMOTIONAL BURNOUT (PART 2)
Authors: E.A. Evstifeeva
Abstract: The article proposes to consider pain and suffering as the sources of empathy and emotional burnout. Attention is drawn to the existential experience of suffering, which does not provide an answer to the question of the meaning of human life and which is supplemented by the moral suffering of a person when he turns to metaphysical questions about the meaning of existence. (M.K. Mamardashvili). The etymology of the word "pain", which was conceptualized in the Enlightenment, is revealed. The multiple semantics of pain in philosophical discourse is analyzed. Such essential features as paradoxicality, constants and access codes to human life are considered. In the historical and philosophical retrospective (Aristotle, the Stoics, Thomas Aquinas, M. Montaigne, I. Kant) pain as a bodily, physical act was compared with suffering as a mental, psychic state. In modern philosophical discourse, suffering is also generated by the physical and mental state of a person. The ontological projection of pain as being-in-pain is analyzed, reflections on the existential experience of pain are presented. It is argued that in the social ontology of pain for an individual, the problem is the possibility of its "privatization", and in psychological ontology, the "anaesthesia" of pain is revealed as a problem of its neuroticization, psychiatristization, and social adaptation. In the latest medical discourse, the interpretation of pain does not exclude its psychic source.
Keywords: suffering, pain, ontology of pain, existential experience of pain, philosophical and medical discourses on pain and suffering.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE REFLECTION
OF SCI-FI WRITERS
Authors: V.F. Martyushov, E.E. Mikhailova
Abstract: The article examines artistic versions of understanding the prospects for human use of artificial intelligence. Two works by British writers were selected for cross-reference: Charles Stross's novel Accelerando (2005) and Ian MacDonald's parable The River of the Gods (2006). The first work raises questions of freedom of choice and changes in the nature of human consciousness under the influence of artificial intelligence; the second demonstrates the paradoxical possibility of merging technologies with ancient Eastern traditions. The authors of the article believe that futurological forecasts should, of course, be treated with a great deal of caution. It is concluded that the reflection of science fiction writers on the potential capabilities of artificial intelligence actualizes ontological, epistemological, value and ethical issues of interpreting and using technologies.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF UNDERGRADUATE
AND GRADUATE STUDENTS' PERCEPTIONS
OF THE POSSIBILITIES OF USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS
Authors: V.V. Spasennikov, D.V. Logvinov, S.S. Savkin
Abstract: The article presents the results of an empirical study on the perception and use of artificial intelligence (AI) by undergraduate students and master’s students of Bryansk State Technical University (BGTU). Using statistical methods (Pearson’s chi-square test and Fisher’s exact test), significant differences were identified in motivation, purposes of AI use, and trust levels (p < 0?01 for criticality and attitudes toward regulation). Undergraduate students primarily use AI to simplify academic tasks; some of them demonstrate negative attitudes toward checks for AI-generated content. Master’s students, in contrast, show cautious use of AI: they apply it to automate routine tasks and support data analysis, and typically verify the results. The study emphasizes the importance of training courses to foster digital literacy, ethical AI use, and risk minimization (e.g. plagiarism).

DISTORTION AND THE JEVONS PARADOXIN
THE CONSUMPTION OF FUEL RESOURCES
Authors: B.F. Zyuzin, S.N. Gamayunov, A.I. Zhigulskaya
Abstract: The article examines the problem of how growth in energy performance affects the consumption of fuel resources through the lens of the Jevons paradox and distortion theory. It substantiates the idea that technological progress can not only stimulate economic development but also lead to an increase in the overall volume of resource consumption due to the rebound effect. Particular attention is paid to socio-economic and managerial aspects: the influence of the Jevons paradox on the formation of state policy in the field of energy saving, changes in societal behavior patterns, and the ensuring of sustainable development is analyzed. The novelty of the research lies in the application of the distortion approach for a comprehensive analysis of rebound effects and forecasting their consequences in socio-economic systems. The obtained results enable the development of more balanced resource management strategies that take into account both economic and humanitarian factors.
Keywords: Jevons paradox, distortion, fuel resources, energy efficiency, socio-economic consequences, energy consumption management, sustainable development, public policy, societal behavior, rebound effect.
